Dental Implants

Dental Implants in Clifton, NJ

Dental implants are a great way to replace missing teeth and also provide a fixed solution to having removable partial or complete dentures. Implants provide excellent support and stability for these dental appliances.

Dental implants are artificial roots and teeth (usually titanium) that are surgically placed into the upper or lower jaw bone by a dentist or Periodontist – a specialist of the gums and supporting bone. The teeth attached to implants are very natural looking and often enhance or restore a patient’s smile!

Dental implants are very strong, stable, and durable and will last many years, but on occasion, they will have to be re-tightened or replaced due to normal wear.

Our doctors received advanced training, fellowships, and masterships and maintained active membership in the American Academy of Implant Prosthodontics.

We will discuss different levels of dental implant procedure’s set fees at our first appointment. Our goal is to maintain your smile and function forever, and if any enhancements are needed, we are here for you.

What does getting dental implants involve?

The process of getting implants requires a number of visits over several months. X-rays and impressions (molds) are taken of the jaw and teeth to determine bone, gum tissue, and spacing available for an implant. While the area is numb, the implant will be surgically placed into the bone and allowed to heal and integrate itself onto the bone for up to six months. Depending on the type of implant, a second surgery may be required in order to place the “post” that will hold the artificial tooth in place. With other implants the post and anchor are already attached and placed at the same time. After several weeks of healing the artificial teeth are made and fitted to the post portion of the anchor. Because several fittings may be required, this step may take one to two months to complete. After a healing period, the artificial teeth are securely attached to the implant, providing excellent stability and comfort to the patient. You will receive care instructions when your treatment is completed. Good oral hygiene, eating habits, and regular dental visits will aid in the life of your new implant.

What Are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are a revolutionary solution for replacing missing teeth. They are small titanium posts that are surgically placed into the jawbone, serving as a sturdy foundation for replacement teeth. These replacement teeth, or crowns, are custom-made to match your natural teeth, resulting in a seamless and natural-looking smile.

Why Choose Dental Implants?

There are several reasons why dental implants are an excellent choice for replacing missing teeth:

1. Improved Appearance: Dental implants not only restore your ability to eat and speak properly, but they’re also designed to look and feel like your natural teeth. They provide a permanent, long-lasting solution that enhances your smile and boosts your confidence.

2. Enhanced Oral Health: When you lose a tooth, the surrounding bone begins to deteriorate over time. Dental implants help stimulate bone growth, preventing the bone from deteriorating and maintaining the overall structure of your face. In addition, dental implants can also restore or enhance facial tissues, as well.

3. Increased Comfort: Unlike removable dentures, dental implants are securely anchored into your jawbone, eliminating the discomfort and inconvenience associated with traditional dentures. They can also help further support a bridge or denture, making them more secure and comfortable, and can resolve joint pain or bite problems caused by teeth shifting into missing tooth space

4. Durability and Longevity: Dental implants are built to last. With proper oral care and regular dental check-ups, they can last a lifetime. This makes dental implants a cost-effective investment in your long-term oral health.

What Does Getting Dental Implants Involve?

Getting dental implants is a multi-step process that usually requires several visits to our dental office. Here is a breakdown of what you can expect:

1. Initial Consultation: During your first visit, we will examine your mouth and jawbone to determine if you are a good candidate for dental implants. We will discuss your oral health history, take X-rays or CT scans, and develop a personalized treatment plan for your unique needs.

2. Implant Placement: The next step involves the surgical placement of the dental implant into your jawbone. This is done under local anesthesia to ensure your comfort throughout the procedure. The implant will need time to integrate and fuse with the surrounding bone, a process called osseointegration.

3. Healing Period: After the implant placement, a healing period of several months is required to allow the implant to fully integrate with your jawbone. During this time, temporary teeth may be provided to maintain function and aesthetics.

4. Abutment Placement: Once the implant has fully integrated with the jawbone, an abutment is attached to the implant. The abutment acts as a connector between the implant and the crown.

5. Restoration: The final step involves the placement of your custom-made crown onto the abutment. Our skilled dentists will ensure that the crown fits perfectly and matches your natural teeth in color, shape, and size, giving you a beautiful smile.
